 Ms. Salomey Kwabea Agyei, a committed teacher at the Kofiko M/A JHS in the Jaman South Municipality, has received recognition from the Ghana Education Service (GES) for her efforts to shatter the record for the longest reading marathon.

The administration of the GES, which operates under the Ministry of Education (MoE), said in a social media post seen by Thisterm.com that the student's efforts to encourage literacy and inspire learning via her initiative are commendable.

The Education Service said in the article, "Meet Ms. Salomey Kwabea Agyei, a dedicated teacher of the Kofiko M/A JHS in the Jaman South Municipality, on a mission to break the Guinness world record for the longest reading marathon."

Salomey Kwabea Agyei, a member of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), is now holding a seven-day reading marathon at the Sannak Hotel in Sunyani Asufufu. It began on May 25, 2024, and will finish on May 31, 2024.

Rysbai Isakov of Kyrgyzstan completed the longest marathon reading aloud, which lasted 124 hours, at Bursa, Turkey from September 22 to 27, 2022.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. on September 22, 2022, and ending at 11:00 p.m. on September 27, 2022, was the Guinness World Record (GWR) longest reading attempt.

The "Manas epic" was read by the competitor. The Kyrgyz people regard Manas, a mythical hero from the tenth century, as their revered old ancestor. The Manas tale is a representation of their country and culture and goes right to the core of their spiritual identity.
