The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cleared up any misunderstandings regarding the ongoing recruitment of university graduates with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) certificate, which began on September 3, 2024, and is anticipated to conclude on September 10, 2024.
The Service clarified its hiring process after announcing on social media that it was recruiting university graduates with Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) certificates. However, the recruitment portal identified the hiring process as the recruitment of B.Ed graduates.
Although many individuals perceive no issue with the process, others contend that the utilization of hiring rather than recruitment is a warning sign that only B.Ed degree holders are being considered for this year's university graduate recruitment. This is despite the fact that the Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah, stated that both degree and diploma holders will be included in the recruitment process.
In an interview with an official of GES, he stated that university graduates with other certificates will be recruited once the Ministry of Finance has granted financial clearance. This suggests that the current hiring process for B.Ed graduates does not involve any clearance.
He provided assurance that additional university graduates would be recruited before December 31, 2024, in response to the Ministry of Education's request for the Ministry of Finance to grant the Ghana Education Service financial clearance.
The GES official stated in a conversation with Pretertiary.com that the organization's management is working tirelessly to ensure that an additional number of graduate instructors are recruited into service this year before the recruitment clearance deadline expires.
He expressed optimism that the Ghana Education Service (GES) will recruit public tertiary graduates who have completed national service and sat and passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) by December 31, 2024.
"We anticipate that we will be able to hire additional graduates by the end of December 31, 2024, as our financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance is contingent upon our employment by that date," the GES official stated.
